The IPM motor can use not only magnet torque but also reluctance torque, and has features such as high efficiency, high output, low noise, and small space saving. In recent years, it has been used for applications such as air conditioners and motors for automobiles. The torque characteristics of an IPM motor are susceptible to magnetic saturation of the iron core, and vary depending on the size and arrangement of the permanent magnet to be embedded. Therefore, when developing an IPM motor, it is efficient to determine the size and arrangement of the permanent magnets to be embedded while considering the effects of magnetic saturation through electromagnetic field analysis.
